EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES REVEALED FROM THE QUR'AN

The Qur'an, which guides every aspect of life, contains numerous verses that can be used to form educational goals. According to the ruling, "How could He who created not know His own creation?", a theoretically perfect education system can be developed based on an educational model revealed from the Qur'an. Even though there are many educational objectives prepared from the Qur'an, this article tries to present these goals from a different perspective, also benefiting from objectives of the Sharia (maqasid al-sharia). After discussing concepts in the article, the relationship between educational objectives derived from the Qur'an and the purposes of sharia is addressed. Subsequently, the following educational objectives are identified respectively: 1- Goals directed towards Allah Almighty, 2- Goals for the universe and nature, 3- Goals for humanity, 4- Goals for the Muslim community, 5- Goals for the family, 6- Individual-focused goals. Objectives directed towards Allah Almighty primarily revolve around two points. First is to understand the fundamental monotheistic principles encompassing the knowledge that Allah Almighty is a transcendent deity (tawhid belief). The second is teaching how to worship Him according to the measures He desires. Some scholars have noted these two points in the Qur'an as the purpose of human creation. Individual-focused goals are analyzed based on three principles. The first is to achieve good morality. The Prophet's statement, "I was sent to perfect good character," and Allah's statement about the Prophet, "Indeed, you are of a great moral character," are significant rulings to determine this goal. The second is the training to ensure the correct use of the mind. The Qur'an mentions the act of thinking in forty-nine verses and uses phrases such as "Do they not see?", "Do they not look?", and "Do they not comprehend?" The presence of such addresses reveals how important the subject is. The third is preserving the innate nature in which Allah created humans. The Qur'an states that Allah created humans in their own nature.
