SUGGESTIONS FOR THE APPLICATION OF MARCEL’S METHOD OF TEACHING THE LITERAL LANGUAGE IN FAIRY TALES

When the historical course of teaching Turkish to foreigners is examined, we cannot talk about a very distant past. However as a systematic  and valuable start we can get Divan-ı Lügati’t-Türk. The work was written by Mahmut from Kashgar in the 11th century. Its aim is to teach Turkish to Arabs and to prove that Turkish is a strong language in every sense. After this work, many works such as Codex Cumanicus, Kitabü'l-İdrak Li-lisanü'l-Etrak, Ed-Düreretü'l-Mudiyye Fi'l-Lügati't-Türkiyye, Et-Tuhfetü'z-Zekiyye Fi'l-Lügati't-Türkiyye were written for the purpose of teaching Turkish in different structures and contents. In recent years, there has been a serious concentration in this area. Studies in a wide range of fields such as overseas related projects, departments at universities, academic studies (master’s and doctoral theses), Turkish teaching sets, certificate programs continue. Every study to be carried out in line with these developments will make the relationship of Turkish with different cultures and languages stronger.

A large number of theories, methods and techniques have been developed on foreign language teaching. Some are still used, while others are now considered primitive. With the changing world and developing technology, changes are made in method-technics. However, while it is generally accepted that it will not be enough to use a single method or a single technique in the language teaching process, it is also important what is “what is to be taught”. One of the language teaching methods mentioned is “Reading Language Teaching Method”. C. Systemaged by Victor Marcel, M. It is a reading-based method developed by Philip West. In this study, the useability of fairy tales, which is one of the oral public narratives, in Turkish teaching as a foreign language in line with the 'Reading Language Teaching Method' will be questioned, and some suggestions will be made in the context of the subject in the light of the data obtained. These suggestions are aimed to contribute to the development and spread of Turkish as a foreign language.
