Kur’ân-ı Kerim âyetleri tefsir edilirken birçok yöntem kullanılmaktadır. Genellikle mezhebî görüş veya âlimin mensup olduğu ideoloji öne çıkarılarak tefsir yapılmaktadır. Kur’ân’ın doğru bir şekilde tefsir ve te’vil yapılabilmesi için âyetin zâhir anlamına uygun olması oldukça önemlidir. Ulemâ Allah’ın Arapça olarak indirdiği kelamının en doğru anlamının bu kelimelere bağlı kalınarak yapılan tefsir olduğunu söylemektedir. Dolayısıyla kelimelerinin zâhir olan anlamını terk etmenin caiz olmadığını belirtmektedirler.  Nasslara zahir mana dışında mana vermenin birçok nedeni bulunmaktadır. Bunların başında önemsememe, inkar, şek,  şüphe  ve Müslümanlar arasına tefrika sokma gibi nedenler zikredilmektedir. Mürci‘e ve Batiniyye gibi bazı fırkalar Kur’ân âyetlerinin hem zâhir hem de batın anlamlarının olduğunu iddia ederek bu yönde tefsir yapmaktadırlar. İttifakla âlimler, âyetin zâhir anlamını terk ederek, batınî tefsir ve te’vil yapan bu fırkaların ilmî bir dayanaklarının olmadığını ifade etmektedirler. Bununla birlikte konuşmadan kastedilen, hitap edenin dinleyici konumunda bulunanlara aktardığı şeylerin bilinmesidir. Şayet aktarılan bu bilgi dinleyici tarafından anlaşılmaz, manası bilinmez veya eksik anlaşılırsa hatibin maksadı hâsıl olmayacaktır. Mürci‘e ve Batinîler’in iddia ettiği gibi olursa Allah Teâlâ kelamının zâhir ve hakikatinden farklı bir şey kast etmiş, muhatabını kelamının delalet etmediği bir mana ile sorumlu tutmuş olacak. Allah Teâlân’ın insanları bu ve benzeri batinî bilinmezlerle sorumlu tutması kabulden uzak ilmî bir delil ve dayanağı olmayan mezhebî görüşlerden öteye geçmemektedir. Sebep ne olursa olsun bir karine bulunmaksızın âyetin zahir olan anlamından  farklı bir şekilde tefsir ve te’vil edilmesinin ulemâ tarafından kabul edilmediğini söylemek mümkündür.

However, what is meant by speaking is to know what the addressee conveys to the listeners. If this information is not understood by the listener, its meaning is not known or understood poorly, the purpose of the orator will not be achieved. If it happens as Murci’e and Batinis claim, Allah will mean something different from the outward and truthful word of his word, and he will hold the addressee responsible with a meaning that his word does not imply. The fact that Allah holds people responsible for these and similar esoteric unknowns does not go beyond sectarian views that do not have any scientific evidence and basis that are far from being accepted. Whatever  the reason, it is possible to say that the ulama did not accept  the interpretation and interpretation of the verse in a way different from its apperent meaning, without any presumption.
