THE CONCEPTS OF EXEGISIS AND METHODS OF EXEGISIS USED IN TAFSIR AL-QUR’AN-IL AZIM

While Allah (swt) draws an inclusive path for people's lives and life differences that will continue until the Day of Judgment with a revelation-based style, He has made a distinguished and perfect person who can be a role model for them.

Allah (swt) finally determined his role in understanding the revelation by saying to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), whom He made the recipient of His meta revelation, "...We have sent down to you the Book of warning, that you may explain to the people what We have sent down to them and that they may reflect."  Therefore, the Messenger of Allah, who served as the first authority in understanding the divine will, tried to express the revelation revealed to him through his words and practices. He was very meticulous and sensitive in preserving the meaning as well as the text of the revelation in order to avoid misunderstandings. As soon as he realized misunderstandings, he immediately intervened and explained the correct meaning. The Companions, who were moralized by his morals, tried to follow his method.  After the Companions, the Tabi'is and the scholars who came after them continued this sensitivity.

Scholars have put forward important studies and determinations for the preservation of the intended meaning by categorizing the meanings that were used in the period of the first basic century saadet but not categorized in today's sense with some concepts. Ibn Kathīr, who we believe to be one of the scholars we mentioned, is thought to be useful to examine his work Tafsīr al-Qur'ānī'l azim in this context.

The subject of our study is to identify the concepts Ibn Kathīr tried to express in his tafsīr.  As in almost all tafsīrs, Ibn Kathīr seems to have dealt with the usūlī concepts in terms of meaning.

The aim of this study is to reveal the correct method of understanding the will of God in terms of Ibn Kathīr from the concepts used in Tafsīr al-Qur'ān al-'azim. In addition, by synthesizing the difference of Ibn Kathīr's tafsīr method with the tafsīr approaches of other commentators, it will be tried to understand the appropriate or more preferable meaning.
