Aile, toplumsal bir kurumdur. Ailenin en önemli fonksiyonu neslin devamına sağlamaktır. Aile zaman içinde tarım toplumundan sanayi toplumuna doğru evrimleşerek yapısal olarak değişim ve dönüşüm yaşamıştır. Aile, kişiler arası iletişimin en yoğun yaşandığı sosyal bir gruptur. Bu sebeple, geleneksel büyük aileden modern küçük aileye doğru, aile içi yatay ve dikey iletişim süreçlerinde çatışmaya varan bazı sorunların olması doğaldır. Buradan hareketle kaynak taraması yöntemi ile yapılmış bu çalışmada, büyük aileden çekirdek aileye doğru değişim ve dönüşüm süreci analiz edilerek aile içi iletişim engelleri ile çatışma süreçleri incelenmiştir. Aile içi ilişkilerde iletişim engellerinin olduğu ve iletişim biçimlerinin çatışmanın hem sebebi hem de çözümü olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
Family is a social institution. The most important function of the family is to ensure the continuation of the generation. The family has experienced structural change and transformation over time, evolving from an agricultural society to an industrial society. Family is a social group where interpersonal communication occurs most intensely. For this reason, it is self-evident that there are some problems that lead to conflicts in the horizontal and vertical communication processes within the family during the transformation from the traditional-extended family to the modern-nuclear family. Based on this, in this study, carried out using the literature review method, the change and transformation process from the extended family to the nuclear family was analyzed and the communication barriers and conflict processes within the family were examined. It has been determined that there are communication barriers in family relationships and that communication styles are both the cause and solution of conflict.
