COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY IN TRAUMA-RELATED ANXIOUS ATTACHMENT: A CASE REPORT

This study focuses on a 26-year-old female client presenting with symptoms of trauma-related anxious attachment. The case was approached using the criteria outlined in the DSM-5 and treated within the framework of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The client reported feeling worthless and inadequate due to ongoing family conflicts and difficulties in her romantic relationship. Over time, these problems led to increased feelings of unhappiness and stress. Encouraged by her social circle, she decided to begin therapy. At the outset of the therapeutic process, the client was provided with psychoeducation about the CBT model and the course of therapy. A therapeutic alliance was established, fostering a trusting relationship. Cognitive techniques were employed to address the client’s negative automatic thoughts and core beliefs. In addition, behavioral techniques and homework assignments tailored to the client’s needs were integrated into the process. The therapy sessions were conducted in collaboration with the client, and positive changes and improvements were observed throughout the process. The client demonstrated increased self-worth, enhanced coping skills in managing stress, and progress in setting healthier boundaries in interpersonal relationships.
