TURKEY’S GEOPOLITICAL IMPORTANCE IN THE CONTEXT OF EUROPEAN UNION ENERGY POLICY

Energy has always been an indispensable part of our lives from the ages to the present and has occupied an important place in our lives. Alliances, countries, regional governments, governments have fought and used realist and liberal attitudes throughout the history of the global and regional arena through the use of hard and soft power elements throughout history.

Nowadays, energy resources, which is the biggest income source of the world economy, continue to have a great importance in maintaining our daily lives and increasing the welfare level of societies. Countries are facing difficulties with existing energy resources to meet increasing energy demands. In this context, energy supply security has been brought to an important position for countries and has become a concept that has been used together with sustainability, security, stability and foreign policy in recent years. On the other hand, the rapidly growing world economy, the uneven distribution of energy resources and the global effects of technological developments strengthen the future position of energy.

In this study; fought for and which caused wars that giving big casualties that energy sources, how importance have in Europe, what European countries do for achieve from recent history to nowadays and how Turkey watch a road in this process.
